The Emerald Coast Green Wave season is just around the corner! With only one month to go, we are excited to share some important details to get everyone ready for another fantastic year.
Practice Schedule
According to Pop Warner rules, practice begins on Thursday, August 1st. For the first practice, the boys should wear t-shirts, shorts, and cleats only. Hydration is crucial, so please ensure they bring water bottles. We will provide tents, misting fans, and cooling towels. All teams will practice at Walton Sports Complex behind Dune Lakes Elementary, the same field as last season. The practice schedule is as follows:
- Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:30 PM (except 6U, who practice on Mondays and Thursdays only).
Game Schedule
Each team will play a 7 to 9 game schedule, including playoffs for select divisions at the end of October. League champions can compete in regional championships, aiming for a spot at the Pop Warner Super Bowl in Orlando. While the game schedules are not finalized yet, we will share them as soon as they are available. Meanwhile, mark your calendar for the Florida Panhandle Pop Warner preseason jamboree on Saturday, August 24th.
Due to construction at South Walton High School, our home games will be played at Publix Sports Park this year.
Equipment Issue
Safety is our top priority, so our organization will provide the following equipment for each athlete during the second week of practice:
- Riddell SpeedFlex Helmet: Designed for maximum protection and comfort.
- Xenith Fly or Flyte Shoulder Pads: Ensuring increased sternum protection and mobility.
- Cam-Loc Hard Cup Chin Strap: For secure and comfortable helmet placement.
- Guardian Caps (10U & 12U Only): Providing additional protection during practice.
- Personalized Riddell Game Jersey: Reversible for home and away games.
Additionally, all athletes will receive a Green Wave t-shirt featuring our 2024 sponsors on the back.
Equipment Required for Players
Players are responsible for procuring the following:
- Game Pants: Must be white; we recommend integrated.
- Practice Pants: Any brand/color; again, we recommend integrated.
- Practice Jerseys: Any brand/color.
- Football Cleats: Required for practice and games.
- Mouth Guard: Mandatory for games; we recommend having extras.
- Socks: Comfortable and durable.
- Water Bottles: Essential for hydration.
- Athletic Supporter with Cup (Optional): Provides additional protection.
SWHS Youth Camp
South Walton High School is hosting a Youth Football Camp for rising 2nd through 8th graders on Saturday, July 20th, from 8:30 to 11:00 AM. We encourage everyone to attend for a head start on the season. The cost is $20 per athlete, and you can register here: SWHS Youth Camp Registration. Our leadership has been hard at work to ensure another amazing season. Registration fees only cover a portion of what it costs to execute our season. Financial support from families, local businesses, and the community helps ensure our teams are provided with best-in-class programs, where the safety and overall well-being of our athletes always come first.
